With soulful, deep, hybridized creations - at times majestic, at others pulverizing - all distinctly his own, Santa Barbara’s 26-year-old multi-talented musician is single-handedly changing the sonic landscape for future generations to come by bridging the gap between the soaring, ethereal vibe of trance and intensely adrenalizing bass music. His breakout, contest-winning remix of Above & Beyond’s “You Got To Go” served as his remarkable introduction to the dance music world. As the track sat at #2 on Beatport’s Dubstep chart for over 6 weeks, second only to Skrillex’s remix of “Levels,” it was obvious that something particularly phenomenal was imminent for Montalvo.

Following his breakthrough, Seven Lions released his captivating Polarize EP(Viper Recordings) and transcendent Days To Come EP (OWSLA). The success of Polarize and the Days To Come EP’s ascent to #2 on the US iTunes Dance Charts and #1 on Beatport served as a testament to his truly inimitable sound and forward-thinking mentality. He continued to maintain strong momentum with songs like his inventive Minnesota collaboration, “Fevers” featuring Mimi Page, and his gripping, emotion-fueled track, “Strangers” with Myon & Shane and Tove Lo, which reached #1 on US Dance Radio, SiriusXM’s BPM Countdown, and the Hype Machine, in addition to being featured on The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones official soundtrack. Also, his last single in 2013, “Serpent of Old” featuring Nostalghia, caused quite a stir with its unique, ominous sound, but it gained praise as the introduction for his new side project, Gathering Darkness, focused on the expression of his metal roots and occult themes.

Complementing his original productions, Montalvo also boasts a jaw-dropping portfolio of remixes and bootlegs for the likes of Ro╠łyksopp, Paul van Dyk, Tritonal, and Florence and the Machine, among others, that exemplify his innate ability to completely transform a song into an outstanding masterpiece. He is able to incorporate fundamental elements from the original, while still maintaining his definitive Seven Lions sound.

With his sheer technical prowess in the studio and behind the decks, Seven Lions brings new meaning to the art of music production and performance with his masterful, intricate and imaginative compositions and live sets that shed light on his deeply impassioned motivations as a true artist.
