Tom Misch (DJ Set)

Taking the musical ingredients of J Dilla style beats, John Mayer- esque guitar lines and neo-soul and putting them through his very own musical blender, Tom started putting his homemade beats on Soundcloud back in 2012. In no time at all, his tracks were being sampled by budding rappers on YouTube, before influential Berlin beat maker Iamnobodi shared one of his tracks on Soundcloud, leading to the first widespread interest in his music.

After releasing around 18 individual tracks on his Soundcloud, Tom was inundated with people asking where they could buy a full release, so compiled the tracks into the much loved ‘Beat Tape 1’, and put it on Bandcamp through his own Beyond The Groove label.

The 21-year-old producer dropped ‘Beat Tape 2’ in August of 2015, a collection of songs and beat sketches that led to major tastemakers like Annie Mac, Zane Lowe and Beats 1’s Julie Adenuga queuing up to proclaim him as one of the most exciting new emerging musical talents.

Tom’s success thus far can be partly attributed to the dedicated fan-base he has built single-handedly, evidenced by his 200+k online followers and the frequency with which he reaches the Hype Machine top position. Tom’s previous releases Beat Tape 1 & 2 which he made while still in school are a combination of beats and more fully fledged songs which find the sweet spot between electronica, hip-hop and acoustic. Beat Tape 2 which has had over 150 plays on Beats1 and over 10million plays on Spotify continues to find new fans across world and is now available on vinyl.

Tom’s music has found him an eclectic array of supporters - from one of YouTube’s biggest dance music channels, Majestic Casual, to the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Clara Amfo and Jaden Smith. Plus there’s the fact that Tom has earned the reputation as one of the best UK producers following remixes and reworks for the likes of Lianne La Havas, Mos Def and Busta Rhymes.

July 17th 2016 saw the release of his first solo EP “Reverie”, the first look at his new more live sound. Tom has now put a full live band together and begun recording a debut album set for release in 2017.

Having sold out his first headline show at London’s Bussey Building in May and a busy festival season across Europe Tom announced USA, UK and European Live tour dates for late 2016, the whole tour sold out and many venues upgraded to larger premises.

2017 sees new releases, him finishing off his first album with a live band and select DJ and live performances across the globe.
