Tantra Yoga for Women

Thursday, June 29: 5:00 – 6:30pm
Presented by: Antonieta Hensley
The “Red Tent” is many things to many people. It is a womb-like red fabric space, it is a place where women gather, it is an icon, and it is a state of mind. All concepts are true and are inspired by Diamant’s novel The Red Tent. Some women create red fabric spaces specifically to honor their menstruation. Others create spaces where they can take care of themselves, promote women’s conversations, and/or hold workshops and other events for women. This Red Tent will do all the above and help you connect to your moon cycles and the natural rhythms of the planet you are connected to. You will learn self-love rituals, while being held and supported in a safe sacred space where we can share, cry, heal, and dance. This is a circle for anyone who identifies as a woman. The Red Tent encourages sisterhood while still learning individual tools to be more confident, happy, and balanced within your being.
Optional to bring:
*Your altar objects to decorate the space. (something meaningful to you)
*Belly dancing belts, shakers, drums, etc.

Presented by: Judy Rebecca Centofanti
Sometimes, everyday life piles up and begins to close in, weigh you down and threaten to crush you flat. Time for therapy? Perhaps make a mandala.Creating mandalas is a meditation and it comes from within as an expression of what’s going on in your soul and in your life. The word mandala means circle. Mandalas originated from Hindu and Buddhist traditions. They can be created by a single individual or by a group collaboratively. They may symbolize many things including a personal experience, a dream, a plan, or a direction or purpose. Creating a mandala can be deeply individual and personal and they may be simple or deeply intricate. They can describe past experiences, reflect present state of mind, illustrate a life journey or give direction for what is to come.

Ayurveda: The Science of Life

Friday, June 30: 6:30 – 8:00pm
Presented by: Allison Scott
Ayurveda, which translates to “the science of life”, is an ancient Indian healing practice/yogic “medicine” (over 5,000 years old) that acknowledges individual differences, imbalances, and treatments. Traditionally, Yoga and Ayurveda were practiced hand-in-hand, one was not understood or even taught without the other. For the serious yoga teacher or student, Ayurveda is part of a complete yoga practice. Ayurveda teaches that each of us are comprised of a unique combination of the elements; Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and Space. In this workshop, you will learn how to use these forces of life as well as simple yet advanced techniques to support inner balance and strength and to achieve health of body, mind, and spirit. We will:

  • Identify the “Doshas” (universal forces of nature, their elemental make-up types and their qualities)
  • address imbalances and ways to correct them through use of the “gunas” (ten pairs of opposite qualities to use as tools for balance)
  • simple and essential daily self-care practices to cleanse the 5 senses
  • learn hands-on massage techniques and marma (stress) points
  • refine your dietary and daily self-care wisdom
  • fill your seasonal self-care tool box with Ayurvedic tricks to keep you balanced year-long

Tune in and use these elements as instruments along the path to reconnecting with your true nature. In this time of social, economic, and environmental uncertainty, it is of vital importance to come together and reinforce the awareness of how these practices can make positive shifts in our own lives as well as for the world at large.

Hydroponics for hope and communities against chemicals

Saturday, July 1: 3:30 – 5:00pm
Presented by: Michael Handley
Communities Against Chemicals was created to educate the community about the toxic chemicals found in the personal hygiene and cleaning products we use everyday. These products are produced with no care for our health and safety and sold to us with deceiving labels and unknown ingredients. So we will educate people on what’s really in some of these dangerous products and explain the harmful nature of them. We will also show how to make your own safe all natural cleaning products for your home and your body ( such as all purpose cleaner, liquid laundry detergent, dishwashing detergent, body deodorant, lip balm, etc). We will have literature to take home and samples as well. By going all natural these toxic chemicals never get the chance to make it in to our waterways or our bodies. We can also do a presentation of our waterways in America and the problems threatening our water. This would go over all sorts of topics ranging from pollution, ways to conserve, healthy ways to grow food without toxic farming, single use plastics, recycling, non point source pollution, and of course ways to help in your community. A lot will also be discussed about local waterways and how to keep them clean through community cleanup projects and education. We have also done workshops on Hydroponic growing due to its way to maximize your water usage for growing in all conditions.

Her Forest Allies Panel

Saturday, July 1: 5:00 – 6:00pm
Her Forest is a touchpoint for a conversation happening around the world – how to support each other. Through creativity, through leadership, by being an inspiration to others – how can allies lift Her Forest up? How can men lift women up? How can women lift each other up? How can we all be better allies? Equality is to the benefit of us all – as especially demonstrated by the majority female leadership behind Electric Forest. Granting a voice, especially a creative voice, to marginalized groups is a revolutionary act.

At this year’s Her Forest panel, artists from the lineup and creators from the festival will come together to craft a conversation in support of the alternative, nurturing energy that we would all like to see more of in the world. Featuring Savanna Buist & Katie Larson of The Accidentals; Bay Li, Kaya Nico, & Daisy Spencer of The Skins; Darcy Schneider, Director of Branding, Partnerships and Marketing, Madison House Presents; Edith Johnson, The Festival Girl; & Women’s Empowerment Advocate Kiki Federico returns to host the panel!
